很多人在读书的时候从来都不做任何标记，有些人做标记但是标记却是混乱和随意，以至于以后都不想再翻开那本书。Bert Webb在Open Loops上写了一篇《做标记的12种方法》，给出了一个做阅读标记的总结：
· Mark the text with a pencil, pen, or, even better, colored fine-tipped pens
· Know your preferences
· Underline the topic sentence in a passage
· Use codes
· Write the passage topic in the margin as a reminder
· Write questions in the margin
· Circle new and unfamiliar words
· Add your or other author’s perspectives in the margins
· Add cross-reference notes to other works on the same topic
· Add structure to a narrative text
· Draw arrows to related ideas
· Summarize
